8/29/2023 0 Comments 2015 chevrolet trax lt![]() ![]() The trunk of the Trax is 15-cubic-feet with the seats up, expanded to an IKEA-craving 48-cubic-feet with them folded flat. The 2015 Chevrolet Trax, along with several other new and smaller SUVs, is jumping into the red-hot utility vehicle market. There is respectable legroom in back and much more space than the Nissan Juke, among others. Getting in there is no penalty contortion like the ghastly Jeep Patriot. All four are gigantic and open wide, especially in the back seat. If you look at the Trax in profile, it really is almost all doors. What the Trax really aces on the interior tally is its seriously easy access. It is quick-reacting and has nice graphics, but the screen and gloss-black shroud is easily scratched. SXM trial is also very welcome via the touchscreen MyLink screen, which also has full Apple Siri EyesFree and other integrations via a glovebox-mounted USB port. Chevrolet includes standard 4G LTE wireless internet for three months on the Trax, with the subscription very modest thereafter. Everybody wins! The blue Indiglo style of the binnacle and gauge lighting is high-vis and again very unlike most econoboxes. A giant digital speedo is joined by a traditional rev dial. ![]() The driving position is good with great seat and wheel adjustment ranges, great visibility and fun digital/analog hybrid gauges. But for others, the Trax’s cabin keeps making a solid case for itself. That alone is worth the price of admission for some. The Trax is the widest car in its segment, and inside you avoid rubbing shoulders or elbows with buddies - like in all compact cars or many small SUVs. The Chevy Trax is avoids this with a much larger width than you might expect at this price. INTERIOR Small SUVs so far have been much more ‘small’ and much less ‘SUV.’ This tiny-cabin issue applies to the Jeep Renegade, Fiat 500x, Nissan Juke and Mitsu Outlander in spades. A solid B+ overall design with great curb appeal. The Trax feels completely fresh and nicely grounded from out back. The sporty and youthful feel of the Trax is really confirmed in the tiny rear three-quarter windows and steep rear tailgate angle. Overflared fender boxes help widen the Trax visually, as does the shrinking glasshouse above the beltline toward the rear of the truck-let. This is a sporty and playful roofline and surface treatment. In profile, the Trax is just as fun and funky as a 20-something co-ed. The aero shroud and numerous grey plastic elements are better from far away than up close, regrettably. This helps aero smoothness and MPG efficiency dramatically, but does look a bit odd up close. The final design element to note up front with the Trax is its incredibly deep front air dam. A lack of any LED’s or HIDs up front is fairly normal for the Trax’s price point, but is not as cool as the projector-HIDs and LED bumper strakes in the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. The upper third of the lamps is amber for the blinkers and running lights, with this semi-engaged lighting choice being the coolest on offer. Some modern internal headlight optics make a bit of an infinity swoosh of lines inside the lamps to separate the low and high-beam lenses, which is classy and feels premium. We really like its blocky nose best, with the step-up from the fenders to the rounded hood helping the Trax feel much larger than it really is. Think of the giant full-frame grille of the Malibu mixed with the butch details of the Colorado pickup and you land very close to the Trax’s style. Is the Trax good enough to keep you feeling SUV-flush? And how about its overall cabin room, driving manners, efficiency and tech? Let’s dive into the full review to find out!ĮXTERIOR The exterior design of the Trax leans heavily on the Chevy truck aesthetic. The all-new 2015 Chevrolet Trax fits perfectly into this evolving world of your 20’s - letting you keep the SUV features you love, but at a bargain price. ![]() How to get the best of the perks you love in an SUV, but with a friendly price in the low $20’s and fuel economy in the high 20’s or better. Budgets and income often put some detours on our collective road to Escalades and Range Rovers. Once you get hooked on SUV visibility and easy entry, the idea of driving a compact sedan again is about as appealing as dish soap. Going back to a laundromat two blocks away or a musty basement of half-functional washers? The horror! Cars can be the same way. Typing this now in my 30’s, the idea of living without such modern conveniences is almost unfathomable. You might not even have a dishwasher or a washer and dryer in your unit. In general, androgens such as testosterone promote protein synthesis and thus growth of tissues with androgen receptors. The World Anti-Doping Agency lists it as S1 Anabolic agent substance "prohibited at all times". It is also used illicitly to enhance physique and performance, for instance in athletes. They get basically nothing in the way of ambient perk bonuses: 25% Headshot Damage, 25% Recoil Reduction, and 50% faster Weapon Swap at maximum rank. This is exacerbated by Sharpshooter having almost no features. Explosives and splash weapons are king in KF2, and the balancing is so trash that multiple heavies and bosses actively resist the Sharpshooter's key damage types. The edgelord HoE Solo players will insist Sharp is balanced, but when I can juggle 4 Fleshpounds with the RPG and kill them without a scratch, and Sharp is crying desperate to land a single fucking headshot on them as they run at max speed with the grinders blocking their fucking face, you know there is a problem. The developers hated Sharpshooter apparently, giving Sharp very few actually good options even when Paid DLC weapons came out! Since the game often is about killing lots of trash in high volume, Sharp's lack of ability to get any real concession on their headshot mechanic dependency has caused the class to permanently be shelved, seemingly by the developers themselves. Multiple classes got huge balance patches, it's to the point where Sharpshooter is so bad that they have virtually no role in the team except as the try-hard Designated Marksman who is worse at headshots than Demolitionist is, owed to their weapon selection and class-specific counter-design. In a game as frantic as KF2, splash weapons, auto-fire, low recoil and high RPM weapons are king, and Sharpshooter's often single-shot and utterly featureless firearms are lacking. Sharp these days is focused on using chain-kills of trash zombies to build up a combo so they can make headshots happen, something that runs totally fucking counter to their design. When it launched, KF2 expanded on the Headshot Mechanic by making EVERYTHING fucking block its face or dodge if it sensed you leveling ironsights on its head, which unfairly amped the difficulty of making headshots as Sharpshooter. 44 Revolver, or MK23 as a sidearm to make snappy headshots on Gorefasts and Bloats specifically.Īs it's a "Zombie Game", headshots are basically the currency of an effective team (sans Firebug's flamethrower), in fact in KF1 the Demolitionist had to get headshots even! This is coz a graphics bug with the explosions where headshots would cause the explosion graphic to play behind your target. Back then, the balance was such that it was a good idea to pack a Handcannon. If you didn't practice snappy headshots with the 9mm and Lever Action, you would usually have a pretty rough time. Much of learning Killing Floor 1 was spending lots of time with the starter 9mm Pistol and figuring out where to hold for headshots on Clots, Bloats, and Gorefasts. Because the rest of the team was often focused on killing trash Zeds like Clots, Gorefasts, Crawlers and Stalkers, it was on your teams Sharp to stay ontop of the big guys and make sometimes tough shots (owed to the clunkiness of KF1's everything including hit registry). ![]() In the Killing Floor 1 days, Sharp would be required to help the team stay alive through eliminating heavy and high priority targets like the Fleshpound, Scrake, and Husk. So here's the deal, precision play for Sharpshooter used to be a feature, not a glitch. Rest of the rant about the design of the Sharpshooter class in Killing Floor 2. It's important to have a minimum standoff distance for enemies to be positioned, and KF2 doesn't practice this basically at all, so you can get enemies clipping through you and multi-hitting your ass dead. Games like Deep Rock Galactic have their melee units hang about 0.5 to 1 meter away from the player's hitbox, that way if you have to point down you can do so without getting super disoriented or having point of aim adjustment issues. If you need to shoot something super quick and are configured for a reasonable distance, something getting up into your face super close is bad. ![]() When things spawn next to you, the distance your mouse travels to make minute adjustments becomes far smaller. If a target gets TOO CLOSE you have dramatically less window to adjust your point of aim unless you have a DPI switch that lets you scroll slower. FPS games depend upon your Field Of View interacting with the math of adjusting your point of aim, so there is a tyranny of trigonometry that depends upon your position and where your reticle is relative to a target. if you're me.Įdit my husband didn't understand the first graph so here's what it is: A TOP DOWN VIEW of the Angle of Movement of one's reticle, with the Player in the Center. I made rambling threats of doing more regarding Killing Floor 2, since it's design is so shit and bad and terrible that you could probably write like a 5 hour long video essay about it and still have more to say. ![]() 8/28/2023 0 Comments Dumbledore actor change![]() ![]() Overall, it’s safe to say that while fans were sad to see Harris go, Gambon did an excellent job of stepping into the role of Dumbledore – and his portrayal has become just as beloved by Potterheads as Harris’s. This worked well with the darker tone of “Prisoner of Azkaban” and the subsequent films, which saw Dumbledore facing off against Voldemort and dealing with increasingly complex political maneuvering. But director Alfonso Cuarón managed to work around it by changing up Dumbledore’s portrayal slightly – where Harris played him as calm and grandfatherly (with just a hint of mischief), Gambon brought more energy and intensity to the character. Of course, switching actors mid-franchise is always going to be tricky from a narrative perspective. ![]() So once it became clear that Harris wouldn’t be returning for future films, producers turned back to Gambon and offered him the role. Gambon actually auditioned for the role of Dumbledore before Harris was cast (in fact, according to some reports, Gambon almost got the part). And as luck would have it, they had already found their man – Michael Gambon. So it seems likely that producers knew they would need to find a new actor for Dumbledore sooner or later. Sadly, this is exactly what happened – Richard Harris passed away in October 2002, shortly after filming finished on “Chamber of Secrets.” While Harris soldiered on through these challenges to deliver a memorable performance as Dumbledore, it makes sense that producers would start considering what they would do if he became too ill to continue filming. By “Chamber of Secrets,” he had even started treatment for Hodgkin’s disease. He was in his 70s during the filming of “Philosopher’s Stone,” and his health was reportedly starting to decline. After all, Harris had done an excellent job of bringing the wise and powerful wizard to life on screen.īut why did Dumbledore’s actor change? There were actually a few different factors at play.įirstly, it’s worth noting that Richard Harris was already quite elderly when he first took on the role of Dumbledore. How and Why Did the Dumbledore Actor Change?įor many Harry Potter fans, the news that actor Richard Harris would not be returning to play Dumbledore in the subsequent films after “Prisoner of Azkaban” was a crushing blow. Upon his untimely death, Michael Gambon took over the role starting with the third movie, released in 2004. Richard Harris played Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter movies. Therefore, it's pretty unlikely that Michael Gambon's portrayal of Dumbledore influenced JKR's writing.Short answer: When did the Dumbledore actor change? There is only one film with Michael Gambon as Dumbledore that could have influenced Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. ![]() Dumbledore's part in the seventh book is pretty small. The only books that could have been influenced by Michael Gambon's portrayel of Dumbledore, are the sixth and the seventh, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. His appearance in the seventh book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, is pretty limited because of this. So the only portrayal of Dumbledore that could have influenced this book, was the third film.ĭumbledore dies at the end of the sixth book. About two months before, the fourth film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire had been released. The sixth book in the series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was released on 16 July 2005. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows If the book-character of Dumbledore was influenced by Gambon's portrayal, it must have happened for the books after the fifth. This means that the book must have been almost if not completely finished by the time filming started. The fifth book of the series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, saw its worldwide release on 20 June 2003. The film was released in the end of May 2004 in the UK. The role of Dumbledore was recast for the third film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, for which principal photography started on 24 February 2003. Richard Harris died on the 25th of October, 2002. Then, in 1914, Heuer offered their first wrist-worn chronograph.īy the 1960s, Heuer watches were so thoroughly enmeshed with auto racing that it’s hard to find a photograph of Formula 1, Indy, or GT racing from that era in which their logo isn’t visible. However, Heuer was most famous for making chronographs, starting with dashboard clocks used in both cars and planes. Soon after, he was patenting unique mechanisms, some of which still operate in many mechanical wristwatches today. In 1860, long before Techniques d’Avant-Garde (TAG) purchased a majority stake in the company (which was subsequently gobbled up by the LVMH Group), Edouard Heuer set up his eponymous watch manufacturing company in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. It's a brand with a history worth exploring and a modern collection worth dissecting - whether you're a collector or in the market for a first "nice" watch. With strong motorsport associations and a number of bonafide icons, TAG Heuer is especially known for chronographs, and it's a giant in the watchmaking world. Many longtime watch collectors will tell you that their first "nice" watch was "a TAG" - or that their first watch obsession was a vintage Heuer. Its Connected line of modular watches come with a host of interchangeable features: allowing you to customise the watch faces via the touchscreen interface, as well as swap the straps, lugs, even the watch head itself. Most recently it has branched out into smartwatches. Accordingly, Tag Heuer has become synonymous with watches with a sturdy, sporty aesthetic – as borne out by the advertising slogan ‘Don’t Crack Under Pressure’ – perhaps most famously embodied in its Monaco, the square watch made famous by the film Le Mans, and also its Aquaracer and Formula 1 lines. The association with sports and timing continues to be a profitable one, with numerous high-profile sponsorships including, at one time or another, Manchester United, the French Professional Football League, Porsche’s Formula E Electric Racing Team, the Ferrari F1 team and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing. ![]() Tag Heuer now sits as part of the same stable as Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co and Moët champagne. ![]() The resulting business, now known as Tag Heuer (which is pronounced "tag hoy-yur", BTW), was in turn acquired by the LVMH luxury conglomerate in 1999, for nearly half a billion pounds. By the Seventies, however, the company was beginning to falter and a private holding company, Tag (Techniques d’Avant-Garde), purchased a majority stake. Heuer timepieces were used for three Olympics during the Twenties, so beginning an association with sports that stands to this day. It also came up with the first wrist chronograph in 1914 and, soon after, began making stopwatches. The company went on to design chronographs for planes, cars and boats.ĭuring the Thirties its innovations in dashboard chronographs led to the Autavia (a portmanteau of ‘automobile’ and ‘aviation’), which became one of its key lines. Heuer took out his first chronograph patent in 1882 and five years later came up with the oscillating pinion, the part that allows chronographs to be stopped and started, which is still used today. Its founder, Édouard Heuer, was an inventor and innovator and something of a maverick, setting up his 19th century watchmaking business in the village of St-Imier and becoming a central part of the history of watchmaking. ![]() Tag Heuer is most famous for its chronographs: a watch genre it has excelled in so comprehensively that at one point it was producing them for many of its storied Swiss rivals, including Rolex. ![]() ![]() ![]() First released in 2006, it easily held its own against much more modern competitors and is still an excellent lens option to this day.

The central bank has been raising rates since late 2021 to get a grip on rising prices, which were first stoked by supply chain problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic and then Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which sent energy and food prices surging. But what's that experience actually like? One of the main reasons people buy a tablet like the Amazon Fire HD 8 is to watch TV and movies – in bed, in the kitchen, on the sofa, while travelling – with maximum portability and minimal fuss. That said, while it feels solid enough, this is certainly not a rugged tablet, so we'd still recommend getting a protective case. It's also stronger than before: Amazon claims it's twice as durable as the iPad mini (2021). If you've used an earlier version of the Amazon Fire HD 8 then it's worth noting that compared with its predecessor, this version is thinner (down from 4 inches to 3.7) and lighter (down from 355g to 337g). That said, you'll probably want a case to protect it, ideally with a kickstand to prop it up when watching movies or making video calls. In the box it comes with a charger, so you don't need to buy anything more to use it. But at the same time, it looks fine, it does the job, and you can't say fairer than that. In short, there's nothing particularly fancy about the design of the Amazon Fire HD 8: it certainly won't attract 'oohs' like the latest iPad Pro. At the bottom, there's a microSD slot, which takes up to a 1TB card. At the very top, there are two vents for the left and right speakers. On the right side, you'll find an on-off button, volume rockers, a charging slot, a Kensington slot, and a headphone jack. Holding the tablet in landscape model, there's a selfie camera at the top, in the centre, and another camera for taking pictures on the back, at the top right. The design of the Amazon Fire HD 8 is pretty basic: a black rectangle with sizeable bezels and screen in the centre. ![]() |
